El NorteThis painting depicts one of the hundreds of Mexican grooms that are the backbone of the horseracing industry in California. It was used for a cover of The Horseman's Journal, illustrating a story on illegal immigration and horseracing. The location is a stall at Santa Anita, a lovely and picturesque track in southern California. The dimly lit racehorse in the background was a pampered Kentucky Derby hopeful. |
