LONNI CLARKE FINE ART

Lady Trilby at Santa Anita

This is the kind of classic portrait of a thoroughbred racehorse that has been rather formulaic for at least the past two hundred years. It's been around since about the time that the English bred Arab and Barb stallions to larger, heavier local mares and came up with a new breed- thoroughbreds. I did this painting by commission for her owners, and then did this one of her for myself. Years later, I revisited the subject and did this one of old Trilby.
